Seville, a Port with a Future

One century after the great transformation plans of the Port, the Port Authority has produced a Development Plan to provide a qualitative and quantitative upswing in the infrastructures and services that are currently available.

The Port wishes to keep and further its position as an economic driver by adapting itself to new port traffic requirements and to the new role that ports are playing in the transport chain and in industry while keeping in good harmony with the city.

The Plan is working towards a sustainable and sustained development. Sustainable development with regard to the economy and environment and sustained development since it spans a broad period of time and a varied range of possibilities and scenarios as opposed to the habitual successive stages of growth and decline in our history.

The Development Plan which contemplates a New Maritime Approach with a new lock and dredging of the river is based both on a Strategic Plan that directs port business towards the requirements of future scenarios and on a Master Plan for Infrastructures that outlines and times the complementary infrastructures needed by such scenarios while keeping them in harmony with town development.
